All about Sabana
Name: Sabana Eleadora Alvarez , Duchess du Foix.

Sexuality: Bisexual although she favours men.
Allegiance and why: To the aristocracy as they understand and support the Opera and have always been good to her. She feels she is almost one of them now.
Social Status and/or Occupation: Opera soprano and party girl.
Belief physical description of your character: Sabana is an imposing woman with dark hair and eyes that betray her Mediterranean background. Her skin is tanned, unfashionable but she does not bother to paint it, finding it gives her something of the exotic. She wears the latest styles and bright make-up, always willing to draw attention to herself.
Brief description of your characters history, including family: Sabana was born to a wealthy but title less family in Spain. She was the fifth of six children and the oldest girl. Her parents dreamed of good futures for their children, finding each the boys’ apprenticeships with merchants or enrolling them in university. Her father enrolled her in one of the most expensive conservatories in Spain. At age sixteen Sabana made her debut in the Opera Bastien and Bastienne as Bastienne. She married the owner of the opera house, a man ten years her senior, but divorced him three years later as she had been given the option of touring and he wished to keep her tied to himself and his business. After leaving her husband and joining the touring company her career went from strength to strength. She was invited first to the Spanish court and then as news of her voice spread to other courts. Aged 23 she found herself in France, singing at the opera houses there and entertaining the King and Queen. Sabana soon caught the attention of the amours king who made her one of his many mistresses. She was not terribly popular, but he gifted her with jewellery and a title Duchess du Foix. It was more than likely he made her a mistress due to her popularity and reputation than any deeper affection. Sabana bore him one child, a daughter, who died in infancy. Her romance with the King waned soon after but she remained at court, again favoured for her opera. At the beginning of the revolution Sabana felt she had nothing to fear but as Mistresses of the king where rounded up and imprisoned she began to fear for her life and made arrangements to escape over the channel to England.
She plans to marry an English man to protect herself when in England and to keep her in the finery she has become accustomed to. She also plans to help Mercedes rise though the ranks of the aristocracy and be rewarded for his work in rescuing aristocrats, herself included.
